Julie Voorhies has
over 25 years of real-world work experience. Before becoming
Marion County Recorder, Julie managed offices or operations
for local businesses in central Indiana, including work for a
local engineering and surveying firm. She also served as the secretary
to the Indiana State Board of Registration for Engineers and
the State Board of Registration for Land Surveyors. Julie earned
a reputation for professionalism and hard work through her work
at the Statehouse and in the private sector.
Julie is a life-long resident of Marion County and has been active
in her community. Julie served as a United Way/Key Club, Labor
Chair for Hurricane Katrina Relief, Co-Chair of County United
Way Campaign, and Committee Member of the Race for Life. Along
with her husband Robert Voorhies, Julie has been involved in the
Labor movement and local politics, including organizing get-out-the-vote
and registration efforts, for over 15 years.
Julie attended IUPUI division of Labor Studies and is a member
of the Property Records Industry Association, National Association
of Recorders and Clerks, Indiana Association of Counties, and
Indiana State Recorders Association.
